The Francine's Friends Mobile has been serving our community since 2005 and has aided in providing early detection of breast cancer for women who are without health insurance. This organization has continued to grow and has been an inspiration to so many people. Here are 5 facts you probably did not know about Francine's Friends.
1. Francine's Friends was started by a group of women who lost a friend to breast cancer in 2002. They wanted to honor their friend's spirit by helping other women take control of their health and receive regular mammograms, regardless of their financial situation.
2. Every year Francine's Friends put on a "Lunch with Friends". It is hosted at the War Memorial Coliseum and raises money to cover the cost for the mammograms preformed on the coach. There is a fashion show put on by previous breast cancer survivors, along with food and other entertainment.
3. The Breast Diagnostic Center partnered with the mobile this year to create a Pink Glove Dance. Their video won third place! The third place prize was $2,500 that was donated to the winners charity of choice. Francine's Friends has done so much for our community that this was a small way the community was able to give back.
